We all think that the only risk we can run while visiting a certain kind of websites is the risk of becoming blind. That’s not true.
Recently, and this is already the second time this year, the main porn websites have been attacked by what’s called “malvertising”.
What is malvertising?
We call malvertising those kind of attacks that are originated by advertisements on web pages.
This malvertising campaign started on the 21st of November and attacked hundreds of adult websites.
It is a corrupted Flash advertisement, which, as soon as is displayed in the browser (no need to be clicked) tries to load an infected code.
Among the main websites victims of this accack, there are:
• drtuber.com
• nuvid.com
• eroprofile.com
• iceporn.com
• xbabe.com
These websites can reach even 50 millions of visits every month.
We would like to clarify that porn websites are not directly responsible for this problem, because the infected codes are insterted and hosted in the adult advertisement network AdXpansion.
Apart from these attacks we cannot say that porn websites are more exposed to host viruses compared to normal websites. The fact that they contain pornographic material doesn’t mean that they have to host viruses. The real reason is that major porn websites are visited by dozens of millions of persons, so they are an ideal audience for who want to spread malware!
How to avoid to be infected by malware on porn websites?
As with STDs, the best protection is the abstinence, but if you really cannot abandon your favourite hobby, the next time you decide to spend your evening in front of one of these websites, we suggest you adopt a good anti-malware software.
